In 1968 Standel Guitar company ceased production of electric archtop guitars and all the existing factory guitar fronts, backs, and neck blanks went into storage. Many acoustic bodies and necks were stored as well.
In 2020 Jackdaw aquired the collection, and began designing the body molds, jigs, fixtures and tooling necessary to build archtops and acoustics with antique parts.
"Historic Series"
Standel built three slimbody archtops, the florentine single cut, florentine double cut and the venetian double cut. They measure 1.75" thick by 16 inches and are made of curly maple and mahogany.
In addition they offered a 2.25" thick single cut and several 3" thick single cut hollow bodies, some with carved spruce tops.
These examples were built from new old stock parts, brand new vintage guitars.
In the acoustic department Standel made dreadnought, jumbo, 12 string, and bass models. The collection includes parts for all these models.
